An Afternoon in Shanghai’s Police Station
As soon as we arrived to Shanghai, we asked for the police to report my camera lost for the insurance claim.
We didn’t know what to expect. The Train station security took us to their office. After some explanation they finally understood that we needed to talk to the police. They took us to a small room in a restricted area…that’s when we got nervous. They asked us to wait and we started to get anxious, later we learned that we were waiting for a police officer who spoke English. Half an hour later he arrived and started to ask us questions. We were relieved once he started to write the police report except that he did it in Chinese…hahaha. I asked if he could write it in English and the answer was no! The officer finished the report or so we thought. We were getting ready to leave, when we were informed that they had to send the handwritten police report to the main office by fax and that we had to wait for the typed one.
While waiting we started talking to the police officer who loved the opportunity to practice English. He gave us some advice on where to get a replacement camera and places to eat.
Sorry…no pictures here…I didn’t have a new camera yet!
