Impressions Sanjie Liu Light Show, Yangshuo
Even though the show, Impressions Sanjie Liu, was a little bit pricey, we decided to go. The creator of the show, Zhang Yimou, is the same person who was appointed to produce the Beijing 2008 Olympics ceremonies.
We were picked up by a Chinese tour group; I think it was Gods punishment for making fun of them all the time… hahaha. We bought some popcorn and drinks and were ready for the show!
Our tickets were the medium priced seats, which was a great idea. The cheap tickets were really close to the show, but were at the same level; therefore you could not appreciate all the special effects. The Most expensive tickets were in the highest level, but really far from the stage. Our tickets had the best of both worlds, we were higher than the stage but close enough that we could see the show. Also our area was half empty so we moved seat to a less crowded area.
The show took place in a natural setting; this is the world largest natural theater, which utilizes the waters of the Li River as its stage, with twelve mist covered Karnst hills and the heavens as its backdrop. Mist, rain, moonlight, the hills and their inverted reflections in the river all become the ever-changing natural background. Its auditorium is housed on the natural islands of the river with the audience standing on the designed terraces, surrounded by green plants. hundreds of performers take the stage in boats, dancing, and singing.
The show was amazing! We were so happy we saw it.
