Fraser Island Day Trip
We left the Australia Zoo about 3pm because we had a long drive to Hervey Bay, the departure point for Fraser Island. We woke up bright and early to be picked up for our Fraser Island day trip.
A bus picked us up and took us to the Ferry port. Once in Fraser Island, we were picked up by a 4WD bus. Our World Heritage Wilderness Adventure included a rainforest walk, stroll along the banks of Wanggoolba Creek, a swim in Lake McKenzie a fresh-water lake and Eli a fast-flowing creek and a drive along Seventy-Five Mile Beach to find a Maheno shipwreck and coloured sand Pinnacles. As a bonus we got to see the dindoes on the wild walking along the beach. Dingoes are free-roaming wild dogs unique to the continent of Australia, mainly found in the outback, but they are closer to the wild Asian gray wolf. Dingoes do not bark, but howl like wolves. They are the largest of the native carnivores.
